Sand Script — Nevada

Photographed in the Mojave Desert outside Las Vegas, the silvered branches of an old desert almond shrub coil and cross like a hand-drawn map. Sparse clusters of leaves grow against all odds. Bleached and burnished by sunlight and blowing red sand, the blue-grey branches trace the improbable calligraphy that harsh terrain can etch into a living thing.
