Seneca Rocks — West Virginia

Looking up at the unique rock formation that is Seneca Rocks. The large crag rises 900 feet from the surrounding West Virginia countryside, deep within the Allegheny Mountains. The area is rich with Appalachian culture and history. The rugged Allegheny Mountains create a natural barrier in the early days of westward expansion. Although native tribes lived in the area for centuries, it was considered frontier country when the first Europeans ventured beyond its ridges in the mid-1700s.
