Dead Tree — Georgia

This solitary dead tree stands in an open field in Thomas County, Georgia, just a few miles from the Florida state line. It’s about as far south in Georgia as you can go. I don't know what kind of tree it once was, how long it has stood here, or what ultimately brought about its demise. What I do know is that, even in death, it remains remarkably beautiful, standing as a quiet testament to the passage of time. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky put on a spectacular display, providing the wonderful backdrop to capture this fleeting moment.
