I recently photographed actors Bruce Willis and Thomas Jane on set for a movie. As I was editing the photos I started to wonder, "Would anyone in my hometown want to do creative portraits like these?"

I absolutely love the spontaneity of experimental shooting techniques. No two photos are alike— at all. You have the opportunity to have your portrait taken by me at my studio in historic downtown Tifton, GA.

Questions & Answers

DESCRIPTION OF SESSION
Each session will last for 20-45 minutes depending on which option you selected. A portion of this time will be used to review and select final images. Between 40-80 pictures will be taken. The cost of the 20-minute session is $100. The cost of the 45-minute session is $250. Hair & Makeup is not included, arrive camera ready. When you arrive at the studio, please have your receipt ready (print or digital is fine). The session will begin shortly after you arrive. Daniel is very laid back and this shoot will be laid back as well. Daniel works quickly and there will be an array of strong portraits. If you feel a little nervous or awkward that's totally okay. Even models and famous people are still a bit awkward at the beginning of a photo shoot. Photo shoots are fun, though! So, relax and know that there is no need to stress.

WHERE WILL THE SESSION TAKE PLACE?
All sessions will be booked at Daniel Shippey's studio in downtown Tifton, GA. You will receive specific directions once you have booked your shoot. For now, no other cities will receive this special creative portrait offer.

HOW WILL I GET MY PHOTOS AND WHEN?
After reviewing the images, proofs will be delivered the same day as the shoot. Often times the files will be delivered only a few minutes after the session ends. Image files will be delivered via an online download link sent to the client's email address. This download link will be available for 1 month. Immediate download is encouraged. These images will be optimized for use online such as for social media and websites. If you are interested in full-resolution retouched images please inquire during the shoot.

WHY DOES DANIEL CHOOSE WHICH PHOTOS I GET?
This is less about having a typical “good photo” but rather receiving an intriguing, strong, and defining portrait of yourself. Think of it as receiving an art piece that I created for you. Daniel has over 15 years of photography experience and has a sort of 6th sense for identifying the good ones almost immediately while shooting.

CAN I EDIT THE PHOTOS MYSELF?
Daniel would really, really rather that you did not alter the images in any way after receiving them. Can he enforce this? No, but he does strongly discourage it. Think of it like this: An artist paints a nice painting for you on canvas then you decide to go home and add more paint to it. Daniel has over a decade of experience with lighting, post-production, retouching, color correcting, etc. He has a trained eye for what genuinely makes a good edit.

WHAT AGES ARE THESE SHOOTS FOR? WILL YOU BE PHOTOGRAPHING FAMILIES AND CHILDREN?
These sessions are for ages 13 and older. You’ll see once you come to my studio that this is a very specific process requiring the person to have a degree of focus and the ability to sit still. There will also be cables that small children may trip over and gear that may accidentally be disturbed. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
This is your shoot, so wear whatever you like. I do generally recommend keeping it simple and timeless. There will only be time for one look (one outfit) so keep that in mind when preparing. Feel free to wear layers like coats, jackets, and cardigans. Hats, jewelry, necklaces, and earrings will be okay as well.

WHAT GEAR WILL BE USED?
Daniel will use a Canon 5D Mark IV camera. It is a 30-megapixel camera. A unique and tasteful blend of lighting, vintage slide projectors, and camera tricks will be used to create the portraits.

CAN I USE THE PHOTOS FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES?
If you want to use your images for commercial purposes (e.g. an album cover, magazine cover, advertising campaign, billboard, and other commercial digital & print media.), associated fees may apply. This will have to be negotiated separately with Daniel Shippey. Please let Daniel know if you would be interested in discussing these options. Posting to social media is encouraged. You may also use the photos on your website, business card, or as a headshot-- but the photos may not be used for any commercial uses unless negotiated and compensated for separately with a different contract. Why is this so? Offering commercial photo shoots at these rates would severely undercut the entire photography industry.
